What is Independent Support?
The Independent Support Service provides free advice and support for parents of children and young people with Special Educational Needs, through the statutory assessment and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.
How Independent Supporters can help you
Our Independent Supporters will offer a range of time-limited support such as liaison across different agencies and advice on personal budgets
. The level and nature of that support will be tailored to your particular needs.
Is Independent Support for me?
If you are caring for a disabled child, or you are a disabled young person about to work with professionals to develop an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, it’s for you.
How do I start?
Contact us and we will work with you to find out how best we can help. We may be able to give you the information you need over the phone, or by post. Or we may arrange to visit you at home if you prefer.
Independent Support runs across the UK. If we do not provide the scheme in your area, find your local Independent Support (PDF, 306kb)
