Ingfield Manor School is for pupils aged 3 to 19 with neurological motor impairment such as cerebral palsy. Our pupils have a range of abilities and associated learning difficulties arising from cerebral palsy.
Acknowledged as one of the leading centres for Conductive Education in the UK, we have a national reputation for our work developing communication.
The school offers
We provide a specialist service for families of disabled children with complex needs. We support families with babies and children under five years of age.
We offer weekly small group sessions that last three hours, in which parents and children learn together using the principles of Conductive Education. Our ethos is active learning through play. Children are motivated to become active learners through the use of fun activities, games, songs and stories based on term topics. Sessions involve the children in active sitting, standing, stepping, walking, manipulation, communication, social skills, cognitive development and self-help skills.
A highly skilled and professional trans-disciplinary team empowers parents to understand and appreciate their child’s abilities and achievements, and to have positive expectations. The team work closely with parents to help them develop their child’s physical, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills.
The emphasis in School for Parents is to provide strong practical support for parents who have children with complex needs within a positive and encouraging environment. The families join School for Parents earlier have more success in developing their child's abilities and confidence during their early years. The help the family receives at School for Parents supports the child’s learning at home and prepares them for the next stage of their education.
The service is free to parents. We receive no government funding and provide the service through the generosity of donations.
