Key skills you'll gain
- Experience in events logistics
- Experience as part of a fundraising team
Why we need you
After more than 2 years without the London Marathon, the streets of London will once again come alive on Sunday 3 October. This will be the first major fundraising event Scope will deliver in over 18 months and we can’t wait to get back out there and support our amazing runners. Many of them have been training and fundraising for over two years for this day!
So, we’re creating the ultimate cheering team and are looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and outgoing people to join us at our cheerpoint. We need cheers, whooping and words of encouragement to shout at our amazing runners as they whizz by our cheerpoints. Your role will help keep our runners going onto the finish line and make them feel super proud of what an amazing thing they’re doing for disabled people and their families. We’ll have music, banners, flags and you’ll get a free Scope t-shirt.
Where and when
Sunday 3 October 2021
Mile 14.75 by Westferry Station, from 11.30am to 3pm
Mile 23.5 near Mansion House Station, from 12pm to 5pm
It would be fantastic if you’re able to volunteer for the full shift, but if you can’t then we’d be grateful for any time you’re able to give.
How we will support you
We will ensure you have sufficient travel plans to and from the event, as well as some information about the event logistics and what we'd like you to do. On the day, we will be on hand to support you, answer any questions and ensure you are getting the most from your day out.
Inclusive adjustments will be made for anyone with accessibility requirements who wish to get involved.
What we are looking for
We're looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, friendly and ready to be the loudest and proudest cheerers on the course! No experience necessary.
What else you will gain
- A fantastic viewing point in the world’s most iconic marathon
- A fun day out in London
- The chance to meet new people
- The opportunity to volunteer in a group with friends and family, if you wish
- Satisfaction knowing you've made a big difference to our runners and helped make their day extra special
