Volunteering at Scope

As a shop volunteer you’ll help raise vital funds for our work towards achieving everyday equality for disabled people. You will make a real difference to disabled people and their families at a time of need.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled people. Equality and inclusion are at the heart of Scope’s mission. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for volunteers.

About your role

In our shops there’s a role for everyone. No matter how big or small the task you can help the smooth running of the shop. There are lots of tasks that you can try. You can choose the ones you like best or develop skills in a specific area that’s new to you.

Choose from:

Customer service: welcome customers to the shop, answer questions or serve on the till

Department specialist: take care of a specific area of our shop, such as books, media, shoes or vintage

Visual merchandising: create eye-catching window and shop floor displays

Back of house: sort donations and prepare stock by steaming, tagging and pricing items

Sales: learn how to drive retail sales and promote Scope raffle tickets to raise money

Housekeeping: tidy shelves and rails, keep areas sparkling clean and ensure the shop floor and stockroom is always safe from hazards
