About the role

  • To act as the senior shift worker in the staff team
  • To support staff in accessing identified developmental opportunities for service user
  • To protect the service-users from threat to their health, well-being and development, both from inside and outside the home
  • To ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the service users
  • Where possible, to ensure service-users are included in any decision-making related to the day-to-day running of the home / shifts
  • To support staff in a manner that provides an empowering, positive experience for service-users through appropriate use of Break processes including on-shift direction and support and supervision
  • To implement management decisions in a manner that provides an empowering, positive experience for service-users

Requirements

  • You will need to successfully complete an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare before you complete 24 months of Support Work. This will be fully funded by Break and you will be supported by our training team.
  • Please note that you must have a full, valid, manual driving licence. Good standard of Education including literacy and numeracy
  • Working with children for at least one year
  • Ability to work under pressure / deadlines
  • Competency in recording and devising risk assessments / care plans and all legislative paperwork.
  • Ability to adapt Communication style to suit a wide range of stakeholders
  • Relate well to young people
  • Be advocate for young people
