We have an exciting opportunity for an Employment Officer to join our Employment and Personal Development team covering the South and South Eastern locality for a maternity cover (30 hours per week) contract until March 2026 end. This role will be a hybrid approach of working from home and office and working out in the community at meetings.

About the role

As an Employment Officer, you will:

  • Work as part of a team to support people with a learning disability to access a range of employment and training opportunities, to develop their skills and confidence and to progress towards their employment goals and aspirations.
  • Have the ability to generate a range of high quality, appropriate placements and paid employment opportunities, through engagement with employers and effective promotion of Mencap services.

Requirements

This role requires:

  • An enthusiastic, driven and self-motivated individual. You will have excellent time management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team. You will be able to demonstrate effective negotiation and mediation skills.
  • The ability to travel to meetings, events and training, as well as to other Mencap locations when required. On occasions, staff may be required to work outside normal office hours.
