About the role

  • You will help to train people who work in health and social care.
  • The training is called The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism.
  • This training is important – It was set up after Oliver McGowan, an autistic young man with a learning disability, sadly died in hospital. His death might have been stopped.
  • The training helps staff learn how to better support people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

Requirements

You need to:

  • Have a learning disability or be an autistic person.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • be a good public speaker
  • Work with other trainers to give good training.
  • have good listening skills.
  • Be organised and ready for work.
  • Work well with a team and with different kinds of people.
  • Share difficult information in a kind and positive way.
  • Treat people with respect and politeness.
  • Check your work and spot mistakes.
  • Travel to different places in your region to do the training.
  • Follow health and safety rules when giving training.
