Key information

We are looking for friendly and motivated individuals to join our team as Face-to-Face Research Assistants. You will conduct structured interviews with train passengers at various stations across South Yorkshire, helping us gather valuable insights into public transport experiences.

About the role

  • Conduct structured customer transport surveys in public settings.
  • Accurately input responses into survey software using an iPad.
  • Approach members of the public confidently and respectfully.
  • Encourage participation and ensure a positive experience for respondents.
  • Travel to different train stations across South Yorkshire.
  • Meet daily targets and deadlines for survey completion.
  • Adapt communication style to suit different individuals and situations.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure, even when faced with objections.
  • Represent Viewpoint positively and uphold our values in all interactions.

Requirements

Communication Skills:

  • Polite, courteous, and confident when engaging with diverse groups.
  • Able to listen actively and communicate clearly.
  • Skilled at encouraging participation and summarising information accurately.
  • Comfortable switching between conversational styles depending on context.
  • Calm and self-controlled when handling objections or challenging interactions.

IT Skills:

  • Able to use an tablet confidently for data entry and survey completion.

Organisational Skills:

  • Self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Capable of working independently and making decisions on the spot.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and workloads.
  • Target-driven and focused on achieving survey goals.

Desirable:

Some knowledge of customer service principles is helpful but not essential

Driving: Valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle preferred
