Key information

You will provide practical and emotional support to children and families through 1 to 1 sessions, home visits, structured sessions, group work, and community-based programs. You’ll promote family resilience by using restorative approaches, building on strengths, and empowering families to achieve positive outcomes.

About the role

Main Responsibilities:

1. Supporting Children and Families

Deliver individual and group support across family centres, homes, and community venues

Carry out child-focused assessments with families and professionals to identify needs, risks and lived experiences.

Develop outcome-focused plans and risk assessments; review and update plans using evidence and professional judgement.

Promote inclusion and equal access to services, especially for those most in need.

Creation and development of resources to support families and children

Help design and deliver universal, open-access services (for example, Stay and Play, Drop-ins, community cafe) at centres and community venues.

Support Universal Provision and wider operational needs implementation, staffing, and outreach events.

2. Multi Agency Working

Participate in multi-agency meetings and collaborative planning, at times being the lead practitioner Make referrals for additional support where necessary and contribute to multi-agency working. Build knowledge of local services and help families access appropriate support.

3. Administration and Reporting

Maintain accurate and timely records in line with Family Action’s standards and safeguarding procedures.

Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding and confidentiality protocols Support digital/telephone-based service delivery, including troubleshooting. Assist with planning, monitoring, reviewing service development, and producing monthly summaries.

4. Safeguarding and Professional Standards

Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children, raising safeguarding concerns and making referrals when required.

Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Participate in supervision, appraisal, ongoing development and reflective practice drive your own development.
