Key information

Break is a forward-thinking non-profit organisation that’s delivered unique support for young people across East Anglia for over fifty years. Co-production with staff, young people and families is at the very heart of everything we do. Nobody chooses the family or circumstances they are born into. At Break we firmly believe that with the right care, there is no limit to what can be achieved.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, overseeing compliance, safeguarding, carer support, and staff supervision. Most importantly, you’ll be holding the space where children’s voices matter, relationships come first, and outcomes are long-lasting and meaningful.

We are a small, values-led therapeutic fostering agency committed to providing long-term, stable homes for children and young people. Everything we do is grounded in trauma-informed care and built on the principles of DDP and PACE. We work systemically — not just with children, but with their families, foster carers, and wider support networks — to create meaningful, lasting change.

We care deeply about outcomes, relationships, and creating a safe, connected environment for everyone involved in a child’s journey.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you want to shape a service, influence culture, and lead with empathy, curiosity, and care.

People are our biggest asset in our organisation. We recognise that the key to providing the highest quality of care is to ensure we have a diverse workforce using their life experiences to give the children and young people a well-rounded right start in life. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

Requirements

You’ll need to have:

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent) or be prepared to undertake this and complete within 2 years of appointment.
  • Solid experience in fostering or children’s social care, including leadership or supervisory roles.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, systemic working, and therapeutic care.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of DDP and PACE, or a genuine commitment to learning and applying these approaches.
  • A confident grasp of fostering regulations, safeguarding responsibilities, and Ofsted expectations.
  • The ability to lead with empathy, clarity, and purpose — supporting your team while holding high standards.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Registration with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • Training or certification in DDP, PACE, or other therapeutic models.
  • Experience in leading or working within a therapeutic fostering or specialist service.
