About the role

This is an opportunity for you to join the Core Valley Lines team as Information Systems and Station Facilities Controller and help make a difference to our customers’ experience. This is a role where you will support the operational control of the day to day running of all Transport for Wales journeys so that all customers reach their intended destinations.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will record and deploy bespoke PA recorded announcements and update this information through text to speech systems.
  • This will include monitoring and communicating changes to the availability of station facilities (including Ticket Office availability, Ticket vending machine availability and availability of all other station facilities) using the control messaging systems and Social media.
  • There will be a key focus on ensuring all faults with station facilities are logged appropriately and kept up to date and also reported to required response staff.
  • You will monitor and respond to calls from the public through Public Help points, Lift Help points and Toilet Call for Aid systems, ensuring any local response required is mobilised.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in both English and Welsh language
  • A good standard of education at GCSE level or equivalent in English and mathematics and Computer user skills.
  • Able to work on your own initiative and manage your workload through excellent prioritising skills
  • Good geographical knowledge of the Transport for Wales Services and adjacent network
  • The ability to manage difficult situations and are able to provide clear and concise instruction while being persistent and tenacious
