Overview

We are looking for XR Hosts to welcome audience members to our Expanded exhibitions, relaying key information prior to viewing and giving contextual details as need. The hosts will also support the smooth running of the exhibition, including assisting audience viewing sessions for immersive and interactive artworks and relaying any necessary safety and artistic information about the works they are viewing.

Key information

Contract: Fixed Term, 01 October 2025 – 20 October 2025 (inclusive of training days) 

Hours: A minimum of 100 hours over the course of the contract. You will be required to work to shift rota which will be set by the department. 

You will be asked to attend mandatory training on 01 October 2025, and will then be on-site from either 03 October or 08 October (depending on venue). 

About the role

  • Acting as front of house, greeting guests, giving welcome briefings, checking tickets, and providing excellent customer service.  
  • Onboarding and offboarding guests into the experience, using the script given for the specific piece. Optimizing the audience’s comfort and ensuring the equipment is running correctly.  
  • Assisting the technical and production teams, providing support for the XR exhibition where needed, flagging issues for attention in a calm, professional and methodical manner.

Requirements

  • A proactive and customer-focused approach, with demonstrable experience in customer-facing or front of house roles.  
  • Previous experience of working in a gallery, exhibition space, film festival, arts venue or theatre.  
  • Keen interest in XR, VR, AR or other immersive technologies (please also mention in your application if you have experience operation VR headsets or immersive technical equipment).
