The purpose of the service is to assist in inclusion, wider opportunities and enhance personal development. This will involve working with specific children on a regular, flexible basis, mainly during school holidays.

About the role

As a Play and Leisure Buddy you will assist disabled children and young people to participate in a wide range of community based play and leisure activities.  Together with parents, young people and staff within other agencies, you will be:

  • Responsible for organising children and young people individually, and in groups.
  • For planning, organising and scheduling Play and Leisure activities.

The purpose of the service is to assist in inclusion, wider opportunities and enhance personal development. This will involve working with specific children on a regular, flexible basis, mainly during school holidays.

Requirements

It is essential that you have the following:

  • Knowledge of activities which are age appropriate to children and young people.
  • An understanding of the needs of disabled children and young people.
  • Experience of direct work with children and young people.
  • Experience of organising and supervising the activities of children and young people in groups or individually.
  • The ability to travel throughout the locality to meet the requirements of the post.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the concept of inclusion.
