Key information

You will join a team consisting of nine Relationship Managers, one Assistant, three Senior Relationship Managers and the Director, Theatre. The team currently manages the funding relationship with a diverse portfolio of around sixty National Portfolio Organisations as well as individual theatre artists and makers.

This role is based in London; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular onsite contact days with other members of the team, normally one to two days a week. 

About the role

The Relationship Manager role involves working with a range of theatre organisations and makers in London. You will be responsible for giving funding advice, assessing grant applications, understanding project information and monitoring performance. This includes: assessing financial information, identifying risk and providing feedback on artistic plans. As a Theatre Relationship Manager, you will be expected to engage with a wide range of areas including touring; place based development; and sustainability. You will contribute to the development and delivery of Arts Council’s strategies, working with colleagues nationally.

Requirements

  • Keen interest in creativity and performing arts, particularly theatre, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Supporting others to make positive change and be comfortable communicating with colleagues and external contacts at all levels.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the London and or national theatre sector.
  • Good understanding of organisational dynamics including business planning, financial reporting, performance management and governance.
  • Good knowledge of grant management and the ability to negotiate with arts and cultural organisations on funding agreements.
