The Haymarket Theatre is situated in the centre of the City and acts as a cultural beacon for the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and beyond since its opening in 1973. The theatre holds a proud tradition of hosting world class theatre and more recently comedy and light music. The Theatre is expanding by hosting Dance lessons during the day in conjunction with Addict Dance Academy.
Come show days, Stage Door becomes the focal point of the Theatre and is the hub for all things show related. The Stage Door staff undertake a range of security, safety and monitoring duties which underpin the effective operational delivery of shows and events. Although demanding this can be a hugely enjoyable environment to work in. You’ll have the opportunity to meet lovely and interesting people and be part of a small team who have one overriding priority - creating fun and memories for members of the public.
This is a part time, permanent role, working 30 hours per week for on a rota basis from Monday to Friday. In the future this will include weekend, late nights, Bank holidays. This role also involves being on an emergency call-out list.

To do this, you’ll engage with various systems including the intruder alarm, CCTV system, fire alarm panel and door access system.
Throughout the day there are routine duties such as distributing mail, signing for deliveries, and signing in contractors and visitors. You’ll field questions from customers and members of the public. Being the intermediary between tour companies and the Theatre, you’ll deal directly with Addict Staff, tour managers, passing on information to other areas in the Theatre such as Technical, Catering, Front of House, and Box Office.
On non show days there are backstage maintenance tasks to be completed. In addition, you’ll assist the operations teams with larger team maintenance tasks when required.
With experience of performing front desk and reception duties ideally in an arts/performance environment, you’ll have previous experience of dealing with building operations and security issues. Ideally, you’ll have SIA Door Supervisor, SIA CCTV and First Aid Qualification or be willing to undertake training. You’ll have basic IT skills to be able to use computerised systems. With good attention to detail and vigilance you’ll be able to effectively monitor CCTV cameras to maintain security around the building. As an excellent communicator, you’ll be helpful, informative, and professional when representing the Theatre. In addition, you’ll be able to work unsupervised, relying on your own resourcefulness and adaptability.
