About the role

  • Develop, implement, and manage sustainability strategies that address areas such as energy efficiency, resource use, recycling, waste reduction, pollution control, transport impact, staff and patient education, and overall business practices.
  • Ensure Pharmacy2U identifies and adopts innovative, practical, and cost-effective ways to operate more sustainably, in line with UK and global sustainability goals.
  • Lead and support initiatives across the business to improve sustainability performance and embed environmental responsibility into daily operations.
  • Assess Pharmacy2U’s current practices, environmental footprint, and carbon emissions, identifying clear opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate and work with suppliers and partners to improve their environmental standards and align them with our sustainability goals.
  • Design and implement tools to measure, track, and report the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to environmental and sustainability issues to support informed decision-making. Work with the Marketing and Customer Care teams to enhance and communicate our sustainability story internally and externally
  • Build partnerships across the business and with external stakeholders to strengthen and raise awareness of our sustainability agenda.
  • Collaborate with the wider People Team on wellbeing and engagement initiatives that support a healthy, sustainable working environment.
  • Develop and share educational materials on sustainability for colleagues, patients, and the wider public.
  • Benchmark our practices against other pharmacy and healthcare providers to ensure we remain competitive and forward-thinking in our sustainability approach.
  • Manage team members such as Sustainability Coordinator as per the current organisational structure or as needs arise.
  • Serve as the primary leader and coordinator of the Sustainability Champions ERG, empowering colleagues to act as sustainability advocates across departments.
  • Lead Pharmacy2U’s efforts toward achieving and maintaining external sustainability accreditations, such as B Corp certification and other third-party standards.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret and draw conclusions from data to support decision-making
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and present at all levels of the organisation
  • Numerate with the ability to analyse performance metrics and sustainability data
  • Ability to use Excel at intermediate level
  • Demonstrate drive, initiative and proactivity in role
  • Proven ability to work both as part of a bigger team and individually
  • Ability to prioritise and organise tasks and workload Previous experience within retail, logistics, supply chain or D2C sectors is desirable
  • Experience managing or contributing to sustainability or operational projects
  • Experience of working in a pressured environment, delivering against tight deadlines
  • Experience of working within company and ethical rules and regulations
  • A relevant degree, ideally in sustainability, environmental studies, operations, or a related field
  • Good working knowledge of sustainability principles, carbon footprint analysis, and corporate responsibility practices
  • Project management knowledge or experience is beneficial
  • Passionate about environmental sustainability and making a positive impact
