About the role

As Visitor Giving Manager, you’ll oversee our onsite visitor fundraising programme across the Science Museum Group’s six sites, working collaboratively with Visitor Experience, Operations, and Commercial colleagues to deliver engaging visitor journeys while maximising income.

You will oversee and guide our Visitor Fundraising team, managing in-person donation requests, performance objectives, and communication strategies that motivate visitors to offer their support. Given our projected income target of £1.5m for this year, your direction will be important in fulfilling our objectives and promoting the long-term sustainability of the Group's public services.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Delivering onsite fundraising income targets across all Science Museum Group (SMG) sites.
  • Setting and monitoring performance targets (for example, Donation per Ticket, Donation per Head).
  • Managing and motivating the Visitor Fundraising team (via dotted-line reporting).

  • Leading recruitment to attract a diverse and cohesive team.
  • Monitoring and reporting donation income and performance using Excel and Tessitura.
  • Updating and improving donation messaging and visitor-facing materials.
  • Ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and best practice.
  • Collaborating across teams to integrate visitor giving into the wider visitor experience and donor journey.
  • Representing Visitor Giving across the organisation and contributing to cross-departmental working groups.
  • Supporting the evolution of fundraising strategy in response to Masterplan and programme changes.
  • Regular travel across SMG sites.

At SMG, we are proud to be Open for All. We’re committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the cities we serve and encourages applications from colleagues from all backgrounds and experiences.
