Key information

The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is looking for an Administration and Finance Assistant keen to progress their careers as part of our Regional Under Cover Unit (RUU). 

The successful candidate will join a busy team, providing both financial, general and operational support to the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit, the regions response to serious and organised crime.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that has previous experience of Administration and Finance to join this specialist team. 

About the role

  • To assist with maintenance of covert bank accounts by transferring expenditure,  ensuring sufficient funds are available and making payments.
  • To accurately record and store financial data whilst maintaining the integrity and  security of information by reporting unusual activity.
  • To assist with annual audits by preparing relevant paperwork and responding to queries relating to the covert accounts.
  • To check overtime claims for accuracy, obtain authorisation for payment and raise invoices to recover costs.

Requirements

  • Intermediate level IT and database skills, including being proficient in the use of MS Office packages with a particular focus on the use of Excel and Outlook.  
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.  
  • Experience working within a general and / or financial administration role and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail.  
  • Experience of working within a sensitive and confidential environment is desirable.  
  • A professional qualification in the discipline of administration and finance would be advantageous  
  • A working knowledge of the Data Protection Act and the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS) are desirable.
