The Assistant Internal Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the continued development and establishment of the Internal Comms function at the National Theatre. With around 1,000 staff and many freelancers working with the NT each year, this is a large and varied internal audience.

Key information

We are looking for a Assistant Internal Communications Officer to join the National Theatre's Communications team.  

About the role

  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of regular and ad hoc staff events, whether in person, online or hybrid, including Company Meetings, Senior Management Forums and Town Halls.
  • Coordinate event information, schedules, running orders, presentation materials and technical requirements, working with contributors to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and print briefing materials, scripts and cue cards, and support practical arrangements before and during events.
  • Gather feedback and complete follow-up actions to strengthen future staff events.
  • Draft communications plans and support their delivery, working with the Internal Communications Manager and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Create, edit and publish clear, engaging and inclusive content for the intranet, newsletters, internal emails and digital screens, adapting content for different audiences and working patterns.
  • Source and prepare information, images and other materials, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and delivered on time.
  • Support the day-to-day management of internal communication channels, keeping information accurate, current and relevant.
  • Help maintain the Internal Communications forward planner, coordinating content and timings across channels.
  • Use channel data and feedback to help identify opportunities to improve content and engagement

Requirements

  • Experience in internal communications, PR or media.
  • Experience of drafting and delivering communications plans and creating content for different audiences and channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, engagingly and accessibly, proofread content and check information for accuracy.
  • Experience of coordinating meetings, events or projects, with the ability to bring together information, materials and contributors to support successful delivery.
  • Demonstrable planning, administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, balance multiple priorities and deadlines and respond to changing demand.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, follow up proactively and work collaboratively to see tasks through to completion.
