You will support the Registrar in the effective delivery of Amgueddfa Cymru’s loans programmes, inward and outward, in accordance with museum policies and to national and international museum standards and will apply the appropriate risk management principles to ensure the safeguarding of the collections.
The national collection of art and design is one of international importance, a unique resource for understanding the stories of visual culture and design in Wales and their place in the wider world. The Art collection includes over 2,500 paintings, sculptures, and works in new media; 12,000 ceramics, silver and other applied art objects; and 35,000 prints and drawings; as well as a significant collection of photographs and works in digital media. Amgueddfa Cymru holds a comprehensive collection of works by Welsh artists and is known internationally for its nineteenth-century French paintings and sculpture. The collection also includes works by leading British and other European artists, as well as a significant and growing representation of international contemporary art.
Duties:
Active collections management duties are integral to all aspects of the role, working with Amgueddfa Cymru’s Collections Management System. Close coordinataion with curatorial, conservation and technical colleagues across departments will be essential to ensure that collections management responsibilities are fulfilled.
