Key information

As Family Support Worker, you will provide support to families visiting loved ones in the Visitor Centre. Visitor centre services include play and children’s services and a catering service. You will be based primarily in the prison's visitor centre and visits hall providing support, advice and guidance to families visiting prisoners, facilitating prison visits and family days and supporting the play service.

About the role

Working as a member of the Family Services team, you will work across all areas of the service, primarily in the visitors centre, but also across the visits hall, play area and tea bar in order to provide a safe and welcoming environment, and provide advice, support and information to friends and families visiting the prison.

You will develop and maintain positive relationships between prisoners and their loved ones, with the aim of reducing the likelihood of prisoners reoffending through supporting and maintaining family contact.

Requirements

  • Experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging environment, ideally involving offenders and or their families. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload. 
  • Ability to contribute to planning and development of Pact’s family work and also have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in build partnerships with a range of agencies.
