Key information

At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services. We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you’re just starting your career in children’s social care or are already qualified, you’ll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work.

As a Break Senior Support Worker, you’ll be working hands-on day in day out with the young people living in the children’s home and act as the senior shift worker in the staff team.

While there will be still an opportunity to work directly with young people, you’ll also take on some extra responsibilities – line managing support workers, overseeing staff performance and welfare, and directing staff and resources effectively during shifts, including participation in an on-call rota to ensure continuous service delivery.

About the role

  • To be able to evidence Break’s values at all times.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships (where appropriate) with fellow professionals as well as with parents, other family members and school staff.
  • To act as the senior shift worker in the staff team.
  • To protect the service-users from threat to their health, well-being and development, both from inside and outside the home.
  • Where possible, to ensure service-users are included in any decision making related to the day-to-day running of the home and shifts.
  • To implement management decisions in a manner that provides an empowering positive experience for service-users.
  • To ensure the key stages such as referral, admission and transition run smoothly and timely and reflect decisions recorded in care plans.
  • To ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements and, where appropriate, participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of individual care plans.
