We’re looking for an experienced Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) / Construction Tutor to demystify the construction sector, equip learners with the essential knowledge to pass the Health, Safety and Environment (HS and E) test, and prepare them for employment. You will be the bridge between unemployment and a sustainable career in construction, building confidence and ensuring learners are "site ready."

About the role

  • Teaching Preparation: Complete all pre-teaching requirements to ensure insight into learner group, scheme of learning, safeguarding and all materials meet Workers' Educational Association (WEA) standards 
  • Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate engaging classroom-based and practical sessions covering the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) SmartCard requirements, industry awareness, and employability skills. 
  • Exam Preparation: Deliver high-quality teaching to ensure learners possess the knowledge required to successfully pass the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Health, Safety and Environment Test. 
  • Learner Progression: Support learners in completing the necessary paperwork, applying for their Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card, and securing work placements or interviews with local employers. 
  • Assessment and Feedback: Conduct initial assessments to gauge learner levels, track progress, and provide constructive feedback to ensure learning outcomes are met.

Requirements

  •  Must hold a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card at a minimum of a Skilled Worker level (Blue Card) or above (Gold / Black). 
  • Industry Experience: Proven vocational experience working within the UK construction industry (for example, Site Supervisor, Tradesperson, Site Manager). 
  • Occupational Competence: Up-to-date knowledge of current health and safety legislation and construction site practices. 
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel to different venues if required.
