Key information

As a Crisis Support Worker you will be providing person centred recovery focused support to adults with mental health needs accessing our crisis service in Shipley, Bradford. 

You will work with service users to develop a recovery support plan based on their presenting needs, wishes and choices. You will provide direct support including therapeutic approaches, problem solving and practical support. 

The role also includes management of risk and close working with other organisations and carers. You will also assist people to move on from the service providing signposting support and working closely with other agencies including community assets.

As a Crisis Support Worker you will use a strengths based approach to supporting individuals with a range a needs from a variety of backgrounds.

About the role

  • To develop warm and trusting relationships with service users to encourage them to express their needs, views and concerns.
  • To work in partnership with service users through the recovery process. To collaboratively develop recovery focused support goals which promote hope and aspiration.
  • To respect the service user’s right to privacy and to ensure that their dignity is maintained at all times.
  • To be flexible and responsive to the needs of service users as directed by their Individual Recovery Focussed Support Plans.
  • To advise and support service users with regards to support for their mental wellbeing liaising with a range of other agencies both statutory and their sector.
  • To promote the service user’s self-esteem and enable them to express their preferences and make choices and decisions.
  • To work within the Recovery Principles supporting service users to work through problems, build self-esteem and find a sense of hope.

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate a warm, person centred and affirmative approach to working with service users
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to listen sensitively to others and to contribute to a record keeping system
  • Ability to demonstrate basic insight and understanding into the needs of people with mental health needs
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and resourcefulness
  • To have a clean, valid driving licence and access to a car
