Overview

Home-Start is a federated charity made up of over 160 local Home-Starts rooted in communities across the UK. Together, they form a national movement for change that helps babies and young children grow up in safe, supportive homes, with better opportunities for the future. Last year, the Home-Start network supported 75,500 children in 58,850 families, thanks to dedicated local trustees and staff and nearly 9,000 volunteers. At the heart of this movement is Home-Start UK, the national body that supports local Home-Starts by providing leadership, expertise, resources and a shared voice, drawing on the lived experience of local staff, volunteers and families.

Key information

You will join Home-Start UK at a critical time as we develop and prepare to launch our new, federation-wide strategy in early 2027. Working as part of a growing team, you will collect, manage, explore and share data to support organisational objectives and deliver business impact.

About the role

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data relating to Home-Start UK and our network of over 160 local Home-Start charities to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Use a range of tools and techniques to cleanse, transform, model and analyse the data, creating visualisations and reports (in appropriate formats including Power BI) to communicate data, insights, and conclusions to key audiences.
  • Work with and support Home-Start UK and local Home-Start teams to engage with and use data and to inform decision-making.

About us

  • We aim to take deliberate steps towards accessibility and equal opportunity to interview and recruit the very best people:
  • We actively encourage applications from candidates known to be under-represented in the charity sector – including Black, Asian and other ethnic groups and disabled candidates.
  • We are a flexible employer and open to discussions about how each role can accommodate your unique world.
  • If there is anything we can do to help you apply and participate in the recruitment process–
please ask and we’ll do what we can to accommodate.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you will be technically strong and have the appetite to work with us as we
establish and grow the robust impact function that our federation needs while ensuring we deliver on current commitments.

You will bring an excellent track record as a data analyst, including experience designing and
embedding new systems and capabilities at an organisational level – with an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges that a federated/decentralised organisational structure brings.

Success in this role will depend on your ability to build strong, trusted relationships. You will be a natural collaborator, able to work effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. You will relish the challenge of developing a shared understanding of impact that balances consistency with local flexibility and ensures the voices of local Home-Start teams and the families we support are central to our approach.

You will enjoy working independently and as part of a remote team, with the ability to attend in- person team meetings in Leicester on a quarterly basis.
