As Database Administrator you will be responsible for the configuration, availability, integrity and security of all databases and data sources. With a natural ability to identify, assess, prioritise and deliver improvements to the environments you are responsible for, you will proactively manage technology and processes to deliver high-quality architecture you can be proud of.

We operate a hybrid schedule, meaning 1 day a week in the office based at Thorpe Park, Leeds.

About the role

  • Ensure all database platforms are highly available 
  • Ensure all data sources are secure and access is controlled, reviewed, and audited 
  • Support Business Intelligence developers, application experts and middleware developers in their efforts to integrate and report on data in an accurate and reliable manner 
  • Work with third parties for new installations, upgrades, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and general advice and guidance as required to ensure all delivered services meet requirements 
  • Respond to support escalations from DevOps and technical colleagues, providing specific expertise for troubleshooting as required 
  • Build strong relationships in the business to understand business objectives, specific data requirements and how the data you maintain adds value to the business 
  • Controlled execution of data management tasks

Requirements

  • Experience with tools such as Structured Query Language (SQL) Server 2019 and Azure SQL
  • Proven ability as a Database Administrator in a similar role
  • Strong operations experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis 
  • Experience of performance tuning and optimizing 
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft T-SQL 
  • Excellent communication skills, and attention to detail 
  • Experience using native and third-party performance monitoring tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor and New Relic
