Key information

As part of our Commercial Transformation 2029 strategy, we have created a new Designer (2D and 3D) role to help deliver our Shop DESIGN, Support CHANGE vision.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the transformation of the retail product offer and deliver consistent design and brand standards across all touchpoints.

About the role

The Designer (2D and 3D) supports the retail team to deliver clear and consistent visual language, developing compelling bespoke merchandise and on‑brand design outputs.

Working closely with Buying, Merchandising, Commercial and Operations, you will help create visually engaging designs that strengthen the commercial offer and drive revenue while enhancing visitor engagement.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Delivering high‑quality 2D and 3D designs for retail product, ecommerce and licensing partners.
  • Supporting the delivery of commercial brand guidelines, ensuring clarity, cohesion and consistent visual language across outputs.
  • Designing and developing museum‑inspired product ranges aligned to briefs, timelines and budgets.
  • Researching trends, materials, market changes and competitor retail to inform product development.
  • Creating packaging, signage, display and presentation materials aligned to brand standards.

Diversity and Inclusion

The museum pro-actively seeks to collaborate with institutional partners, individuals, and networks to realise its commitment to build a culturally diverse workforce. We positively encourage applications from underrepresented groups and consider candidates who are suitably qualified and eligible regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience as a 2D and 3D designer.
  • Expertise in relevant design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Blender).
  • Strong creative and technical skills with the ability to excite others with design vision and product ideas.
  • A collaborative and supportive working style.
  • Knowledge of contemporary design.

As part of your application, you will be asked to include a link/attachment to your design portfolio or website.
