About the role

  • Manage an annual programme of inclusive and accessible learning activities, delivered by volunteers and freelancers. Ensure all activities have clear learning outcomes, reach an appropriate audience and are delivered in line with Kew’s health and safety and safeguarding policies. 
  •  Develop engaging learning content for access audiences, including learning resources to accompany programme activities and support community group self-led visits. 
  • Coordinate the Kew Access Forum, in conjunction with the Community and Access Learning Manager, to ensure it is representative of best practice, it attracts a broad range of relevant expertise, and it impacts Kew’s wider accessibility.
  • Promote and champion the Discovery programme, inside and outside Kew and nurture relationships with community partners. 
  • Ensure that all funder requirements and internal KPIs are met. Maintain an accurate monitoring and evaluation system. Provide detailed reports, project plans and project updates as required.
  • Coordinate a large pool of Discovery volunteers, including recruitment, training and social events. Engage facilitators and coordinate Event Assistants to support the delivery of workshop activities.
  •  Manage the programme budget and support the Community and Access Learning Manager to secure uplifts through external sponsorship, working with Kew’s Development team.
  •  Keep up to date with best practice through attending relevant training, reading appropriate literature and participating in relevant local and national networks.

Requirements

  • Significant experience of coordinating informal learning activities and creating informal learning resources, for adult audiences who have access requirements
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of best practice in working with audiences who have access requirements
  • Experience of audience development and partnership management
  • Project management experience involving multiple activities and deadlines
  • Experience of managing and training volunteers
  • Experience of evaluation, monitoring and report writing
  • Experience of regular work with Microsoft Office 365 packages
  • Experience of budget management and reporting
  • Experience and knowledge of Safeguarding and Health and Safety management 
  • Interest in nature, conservation, and plant science
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage time effectively
