Key information

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Community Support Worker to help deliver the CFO Evolution contract across the North West.

This contract supports ex-offenders in community venues, including Probation Offices and Approved Premises, to overcome barriers and progress towards a positive future.

The job involves working with people on remand or serving custodial and community-based sentences, supervised by the National Probation Service, to engage them in learning, training and employment opportunities, either through one-to-one or group work. 

About the role

  • Support individuals on your caseload into quality learning and employment opportunities.
  • Promote the project within prisons, probation offices and with other stakeholders to generate your own referrals.
  • Motivate and support your participants to attend and engage in the Discovery Wing, His Majesty's Prison Risley and Buttermere Wing, His Majesty's Prison Lancaster Farms project.
  • In prison and community, support your participants to access and attend the community-based Activity Hubs.
  • To contribute to team targets by successful achievement of individual targets across a number of key performance indicators, on a monthly basis.
  • Follow the guidance given to ensure you deliver a quality service.
  • Undertake an initial assessment of your participant’s needs and develop a programme of support, including a personalised action plan.

Requirements

  • Understanding of offender management services, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the wider Criminal Justice System.
  • Knowledge of issues around social exclusion and disadvantage.
  • Understanding of the principles of equal opportunities.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged groups and individuals in prisons and community locations.
  • Experience of delivering training or presentations to individuals and groups. 
  • Competency in a range of IT applications including case recording systems and databases, Excel spreadsheets, word processing and knowledge of Outlook e-mail and Calendar.
  • Ability to achieve monthly performance targets across a number of key performance indicators.
