About the role

The Engagement Coordinator (Administration and Volunteering) role is a brand new role for the museum and is a key member of the Engagement Team and the wider Programmes, Partnerships and Learning Division, working as part of a team of cross-site Coordinators to support the development and delivery of onsite, outreach and online activities.

The role focuses on the administrative aspects of the Engagement and Community Partnerships programme, and providing administrative support to the Assistant Director: Programmes, Partnerships and Learning.

This role will also include the day-to-day management of the Lived Experience Volunteer programme at London Museum Smithfield (including volunteer rotas, volunteer expenses and access fund, and training and wellbeing opportunities), working closely with colleagues from Engagement, HR and Visitor Experience teams.

Requirements

Top Essential Criteria 

  • Highly organised with strong administrative and problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage own time and prioritise work effectively. 
  • Experience of finance administration including keeping accurate budget, credit card and reporting records. 
  • Experience of successfully supporting the day-to-day delivery of public activities in a heritage, arts, education or community setting, including experience of supporting and coordinating volunteers. Further Essential Criteria 
  • Awareness of the complexity of London’s society, a commitment to anti-racist practice and an understanding of why access, diversity and inclusion are important to this role. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people including colleagues and diverse audiences. 
  • Committed to working well with other colleagues, ensuring joined up working and a supportive working environment and understanding that good volunteering experiences are built together as a team. 
  • Previous experience of using booking systems, and / or volunteer management systems and/or customer relationship management systems (CRM).
