We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Evening and Weekend Support Worker to join Our Way Leeds (OWL), a young people’s housing-related support service delivered through a consortium of providers, including GIPSIL.

Key information

The post holder will support young people to build confidence, develop independent living skills and sustain their own tenancies. 

About the role

Working as part of a locality team, they will provide strengths-based, trauma-informed support, building positive relationships to help young people achieve the goals identified in their personalised support plans.

The role will also involve delivering social opportunities and activities that promote engagement, personal development and greater independence.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a supportive role with vulnerable young people up to the age of 25, including on an outreach basis.
  • Experience of planning and delivering individual support, group work programmes and activities.
  • Knowledge of the practical, physical and emotional health issues facing vulnerable young people.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries. 
  • Experience of managing risk and risky behaviours, responding appropriately.
  • Knowledge and experience of housing-related support and pathways.
  • Experience of assessing support needs and risk, contributing to support plans.
  • Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding practices, with the ability to identify, respond and escalate concerns appropriately.

  • Ability to organise and prioritise work, respond calmly to emergencies and adapt to changing needs.
