A Family Decision Making Conference is a structured, family led meeting where families and their wider support networks come together to make safe and sustainable plans for a child. These conferences are facilitated by an independent and impartial coordinator, who supports the family throughout the process.

• Attend Family Decision making Conferences and uses Family Decision making Conference principles at Early Help thresholds, uses evidence based monitoring and records the impact and results of these, ensuring children and young people continue to be cared for within the family network.
• Support development of positive attachments and relationships between the parent, children and young people at Early Help threshold through Family Decision making Conference services.
• Conferences and shares principles at different thresholds to use a whole family approach to engage and bring about change for families with children and young people to improve family functioning and ensuring that they remain within family network.

• Previous experience in supporting vulnerable children and their families through challenging circumstances. 
• Previous experience working directly with disabled children and those with additional needs.
• Previous experience helping families facing disadvantage or discrimination, offering them the support they need to thrive.
• Able to recognise and respond to safety concerns and risk factors to protect those at risk.
• Have a deep, nuanced understanding of the complex challenges faced by children and young people on the edge of care and what truly works to ensure safe, stable, and lasting positive outcomes.
• Proven experience in supervising or supporting colleagues to deliver impactful, whole family interventions.
• A solid track record in preventative work with children and families experiencing escalating needs, with a confident ability to assess risks, safeguard effectively, and intervene where necessary.
• Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
