A great opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our forestry team set in the stunning surroundings of The Bedford Estates which includes Woburn Abbey, Woburn Safari Park and Woburn Golf Club.

Key information

We are seeking an individual who personally aims for excellence, working as part of a small team providing an environment to be proud of for future generations to enjoy.  A broad range of Estate forestry duties including tree felling, planting and maintenance are required on a daily basis.

Managing the natural resources in the Park, the successful candidate will be a hardworking individual who likes to spend much of their time working outside and is confident to work independently.

About the role

  • To ensure that all tree harvesting, including hardwood, softwood and broadleaves is carried as required.
  • To undertake all hand, mechanical and chemical weeding operations as required.
  • To repair and maintain all fencing.
  • To carry out forestry planting and restock maintenance.
  • To ensure that pest control is carried out as required.
  • To undertake sawmilling as required.
  • As and when necessary the ability to climb trees or willingness to learn is required.
  • To carry out general Estates works as required.

Requirements

Full UK driving licence

Please be aware this job is part of our Forestry Roots traineeship which is charitably funded and all applicants must fulfil the below eligibility criteria:

  •  Aged 18-30 years old
  • Faced a barrier to education or employment
  • Not currently gainfully employed, or working within the forestry or arboriculture sector

You will need to be available to start work between the 1 of August and 31 of September.
