You will be learning how a cooperative business works, how we work with different landowners and ultimately how you could establish your own woodland enterprise or join an existing woodland business.
Tasks include chainsaw use and dressing out coppice (hand tools), contracting work including tree felling coppice restoration. Installing temporary deer fencing, layering hazel, Making hurdles, cleft oak fencing, charcoal making, bench making. Firewood processing, Helping with courses, engagement events and shows.
A passion for woodlands and working with wood is essential. Additionally you need to be reliable and willing to learn as well as being happy to get on with the job whatever the weather (within reason of course!).
No accommodation is provided, however we may be able to help with temporary accommodation to help you establish yourself in the area
A drivers license is not essential for the work but you must be able to reliably travel to the yard for work.
