About the role

As a Functional Skills Tutor at ROC College, you will:

  • Deliver Maths and English teaching on a 1 to 1 and group basis
  • Support students to achieve Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications
  • Assess learner needs and develop personalised learning plans
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support student outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievement
  • Embed Maths and English across wider curriculum areas
  • Support colleagues with planning and delivery
  • Contribute to achievement targets and quality improvement activities
  • Act as an ambassador for ROC College within the community

Requirements

We’re seeking an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality Maths and English teaching to students with additional needs. You will support learners to achieve formal qualifications and develop essential skills for work and independent living.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least one year’s experience teaching Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)A Level 4 Teaching Qualification (e.g. CTTLS or equivalent)Experience in post-16 education and understanding of Ofsted requirementsStrong organisational and communication skillsExperience working with learners with disabilities or additional needsAbility to deliver engaging 1 to 1 and group sessionsConfidence managing a caseload of students and tailoring learning to individual needsA flexible and creative approach to teachingA full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Experience supporting learners with learning disabilities, mental health needs, or physical disabilities is highly desirable.
