We are currently recruiting for a General Assistant to join our team at one of our workplace restaurants in Melbourn.

We’re seeking a positive, honest, and reliable individual to join our friendly, hardworking team. In return, we offer excellent training and genuine opportunities for progression for the right candidate.

About the role

  • As a General Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation.
  • Your responsibilities will include food preparation, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and assisting with front-of-house service. 
  • You’ll need to be adaptable and ready to respond to the changing needs of the service each day.
  • You’ll be part of a team of five, helping to deliver a small breakfast offering and a busy lunch service for up to 400 staff members. 
  • Our lunch service includes hot main dishes inspired by global cuisines and current food trends, alongside grab-and-go sandwiches, a fresh salad bar, a soup station, and a daily selection of cakes and bakes.
  • All menus are created weekly by the Chef Manager, with every element prepared from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The team also supports on-site hospitality and events as required.

Requirements

  • Have experience working in a similar role and environment
  • Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
  • Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
  • Have excellent customer service and social skills
  • Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
  • Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 5
  • Be customer focused
  • Have basic food knowledge
  • Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
