Key information

We are looking for an organised, customer-focused Housing Assistant to join our team at MHA. This is a varied and rewarding role, supporting the day-to-day management of a housing scheme and helping residents feel safe, supported and at home.

As a Housing Assistant, you will provide a tailored housing management service across different tenures, working closely with the Housing Manager, care colleagues and external partners.

You will play a key role in maintaining safe, well-managed homes, supporting community life and delivering high-quality customer service in line with MHA’s values.

For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Scheme. This ensures commutes are manageable and support your wellbeing and work-life balance. If you live outside this area but would still find the  commute manageable, please get in touch - we are happy to review individual circumstances.

About the role

What you will do:

  • Support the Housing Manager with the efficient running of the scheme, including housing management, maintenance and administration.
  • Assist with void management, repairs, allocations, lettings and rent or service charge arrears.
  • Lead on health and safety compliance within the scheme and support the management of anti-social behaviour.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in line with statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements.
  • Monitor budgets in conjunction with the Housing Manager, ensuring appropriate authorisation for expenditure.
  • Support annual service charge processes and consultations with residents where required.

Requirements

You will bring:

  • Experience of working in a housing-related role.
  • Strong organisational skills, including planning, prioritising, record keeping and report writing.
  • Good understanding of the impact of housing on health and wellbeing.
  • Good IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft products.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and manage competing priorities.
  • A customer-focused approach with sensitivity to the needs of older people.

Please note that interviews may take place prior to the closing date and if a suitable candidate is appointed the role may close early.
