Key information

As an In Work Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in enabling people with learning disabilities and autism to thrive and sustain their employment. 

Working in partnership with clients, employers, and colleagues, you will deliver person-centred support that combines practical job coaching, workplace monitoring, and advocacy for reasonable adjustments.

Must be a driver and have use of a car for business purposes.

About the role

  • Provide individualised support for clients with barriers to employment, including those with learning disabilities, autism, or other workplace needs.
  • Manage referrals by engaging with clients from the point of referral, conducting initial assessments, and developing individualised support plans.
  • Guide clients through the process of navigating and applying for Access to Work funding, liaising with employers and Access to Work advisors to secure appropriate support.
  • Conduct workplace reviews and observations to identify support needs, recommend and negotiate reasonable adjustments, and monitor client progress.
  • Collaborate with employers and clients to create, update, and maintain workplace action plans, setting and reviewing meaningful goals.
  • Carry out regular reviews to adapt support strategies and ensure goals remain relevant and achievable.

Requirements

  • Positive commitment to further training and self-development.
  • Experience or knowledge of working with disadvantaged people.
  • Good knowledge of IT packages such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel or equivalent.
  • An understanding of Access to Work and supported employment models.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to respond quickly to critical operational issues as they arise.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Competence in using digital tools and systems for remote working and service delivery.
