Key information

As an Internal Auditor, you will carry out detailed financial audits across a wide range of social care settings, including residential care, supported living, and extra care services. 

This is a hands‑on, varied role that involves significant national travel and provides the opportunity to directly observe and influence financial practices in frontline services, both safeguarding and empowering the people who we support.

Working largely independently during service visits, you will review financial records, assess financial controls, identify areas of concern or risk, and support services to improve their governance and compliance. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and frontline staff, offering guidance, problem‑solving support, and training where required.

Your work will help ensure that individuals receiving financial support, each with different levels of capacity, experience safe, empowering, and well‑managed financial care.

About the role

  • To visit services across England on a regular basis to conduct a financial audits on site with remote follow ups. To provide a report of the audit in a timely manner and put an action plan in place if required. 
  • To ensure that the finances at services are managed in line with Creative Support procedures: that money and valuables are kept securely in the safe (within the insurance limit), income security is adhered to and that daily checks are conducted and recorded. 
  • To undertake remote finance audits according to the schedule of work agreed and as appropriate. 
  • To audit all cash funds and record of transactions held by the services. 
  • To promote good practice in respect of financial management and support awareness campaigns across the year.
  • To put in place any preventative measures necessary to promote good financial practice at service level. 
  • To report any suspected fraud or mismanagement found during audits.

Requirements

  • A good standard of general education
  • Experience of producing written reports
  • Experience of data analysis
  • Excellent customer care skills and the ability to respond to a wide range of enquiries
  • An excellent standard of written English
