Key information

This is an exciting opportunity to join our creative, award-winning Learning team, on a one-year fixed-term contract, as we work towards the opening of the new London Museum later this year.

Working closely with other members of the Learning team, you'll lead on the logistics for schools visits at the new London Museum Smithfield including supporting with problem-solving, arranging teacher familiarisation events and piloting self-led and facilitated visits for primary, secondary and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school groups. 

You'll oversee the evaluation of the opening schools programme, build partnerships with local venues to arrange multi-site visits and support the piloting of the family programme. As an active member of the Learning team, you’ll contribute to creative discussions around the future of the Learning programme.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication, team working and organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of their work.

About the role

  • Work with the Senior Learning Managers and other Learning Managers to plan and implement a programme of onsite, outreach and online activities for schools and families
  • Oversee the daily operations of the onsite schools programme, ensuring facilitators are booked with plenty of notice and that sessions are risk assessed and meet their objectives
  • Work closely with the Senior Learning Manager to arrange and manage the teacher familiarisation and schools launch events, schools marketing and problem solve on schools logistics
  • Support the Showspace Learning Manager with operational decision-making to ensure the smooth running of the Showspace programme for schools and families
  • Alongside other Learning Managers, oversee the delivery of programming for families, ensuring events are risk assessed, delivered to time and budget, are of the highest possible quality and meet their objectives

Requirements

  • A successful track record of developing, delivering and evaluating high quality activities and resources for schools in a heritage, arts or education setting.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills, and the ability to work effectively with a range of colleagues, partners and audiences.
  • Awareness of the needs of schools and families when visiting museums, including an up-to-date understanding of the national curriculum and experience of interpreting this creatively to engage school audiences in age-appropriate way.
  • Awareness of the complexity of London’s society and a commitment to anti-racist practice and putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of your work.
  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail, with the ability to work well under pressure and to manage own time effectively.
  • Experience of commissioning and managing relationships with freelancers, casual workers, consultants, advisers or external contractors.
