Key information

Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Legal Practice Manager to help shape the future of our legal and home ownership services.

We're creating a modern, high-performing in-house legal service and we're looking for someone who understands how legal operations work and enjoys making things run smoothly.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day management of our Legal and Home Ownership teams. You'll help us create the systems, processes and controls that keep work flowing, support colleagues to perform at their best and ensure we're delivering a professional, efficient and customer-focused service.

This is a hybrid role, offering a balance of home and office working. You'll be expected to spend 2 to 3 days per week working from our fantastic Hudson Quay office in Middlesbrough, with the remainder of your time working from home. As business and team needs can vary, you'll need to be adaptable and may be required to spend additional time in the office when needed.

About the role

  • Lead the operational transformation of our Legal and Home Ownership services, working closely with the Head of Legal and Home Ownership to turn strategic priorities into practical improvements, embed modern practice management disciplines and introduce smarter ways of working.
  • Run our legal front door, ensuring work is allocated, prioritised and progressed effectively with clear visibility of demand, capacity and outcomes.
  • Strengthen governance, controls and legal standards. You’ll implement consistent processes and self-service tools templates that support compliance, reduce risk and improve accountability.
  • Lead and develop a team of 4 across legal operations and home ownership. You'll bring together people, processes, systems and insight to help us work more effectively.
  • Improve legal case progression and service performance to remove bottlenecks and delays and develop a more responsive and customer-focused service.
  • Manage and monitor the performance, quality and value for money of external legal providers.
  • Use data, reporting and insight to drive decision-making, providing clear performance information to support effective resource and service planning.

  • You'll be confident building relationships and working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • You'll enjoy bringing structure, consistency and clarity to complex services.
