Key information

This is an exciting opportunity to join Wrexham University’s Planning and Reporting team as it continues to develop and enhance the institution’s Business Intelligence capabilities.

With the recent implementation of a data warehouse, this role will lead on developing and embedding BI reporting processes, particularly in light of the current data warehouse project coming to fruition, which will enable new approaches to data analysis and reporting.

About the role

  • To lead the overall development and implementation of a range of data dashboards to support strategic decision making within the institution.
  • To specifically develop and provide PowerBI dashboards for senior management that will provide detailed information relating to student number modelling, application trend analysis and Key Performance Indicators information.
  • To lead on the expansion of PowerBI dashboards to provide key information to all academic staff and associated professional services colleagues across the institution. This might include (but would not be limited to) student number information, workload allocation modelling, recruitment and retention reporting, student support dashboards and Key Performance Indicators information include student surveys and other metrics.
  • To support the development and delivery of training in how to use PowerBI dashboards for end users.
  • To continue to oversee the further development, improvement and expansion of dashboards once they are established to ensure that these continue to meet the data requirements of the institution.

Requirements

  • Ability to develop detailed and effective Business Intelligence dashboards. 
  • Ability to deal with large and complex datasets, designing data investigations, analysis and interpretation of complex data trends and patterns and the identification of relevant data sources. 
  • Ability to refine information needs into actionable research and identify key variables. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work methodically and maintain highest standards of accuracy, consistency and thoroughness.
  • Advanced skills in PowerBI. 
  • Ability to understand and interpret University policies, procedures and working practices in all areas of the University’s business and any issues which may influence the development of longer-term university strategies.
