Key information

Trees improve the quality of life of millions of people in the UK every day, but many people do not have good access to the essential benefits they provide. The purpose of this role is to manage delivery of our new UK wide Trees For All programme which aims to tackle the inequitable access to trees and woods, especially in urban areas. It covers community engagement, tree planting, research, policy and communications.

This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required no more than once a month on average.

About the role

  • Oversee programme delivery including reporting on outcomes.
  • Engage and convene stakeholders nationally and locally including Woodland Trust staff, Members of Parliament (MPs), civil servants, health professionals, community groups and funders.
  • Mobilise internal and external resources to maximise impact for tree equity.
  • Represent the Woodland Trust externally including giving talks and presentations.
  • Coordinate multiple teams across the Trust to deliver a UK wide programme that aims to raise tree equity in priority areas identified by the Tree Equity Score UK.
  • Monitor and report on impact of activities within the programme.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering and developing successful projects including budget management.
  • Knowledge of programme management and how to coordinate multiple workstreams.
  • Experience working with communities particularly those experiencing social, economic and environmental deprivation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage stakeholders to develop plans and secure consensus.
  • Strong knowledge on data interpretation, management and presentation.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire different audiences.
  • Knowledge of environmental policies and legislation and the ability to ensure they are followed.
  • Knowledge of the values of urban trees and the Tree Equity Score UK.
