We are currently looking for a Registrar to join our Haywards Exhibitions team on a full time 12 month fixed term contract.

Key information

The Southbank Centre is seeking an experienced Exhibitions Registrar to work in the Exhibitions Department, responsible for temporary exhibitions across a wide range of strands, including Hayward Gallery, Hayward Touring and site-specific commissions.

About the role

  • Devising and managing exhibition transport schedules for Hayward Gallery exhibitions and Hayward Touring exhibitions.
  • Liaison with fine art shipping agents to procure transport estimates, ensuring that shipping agents are kept informed of changing loan lists, and estimates represent value for money. 
  • Preparation and management of transport budgets for packing, casing, international transport, courier arrangements, insurance, and external conservators in liaison with exhibition curators. 
  • Scrutinise all lender loan agreements, checking terms and conditions of loan and liaising with the Senior Registrar, Deputy Director and Southbank legal adviser as appropriate. 
  • To act as a courier for individual loans, or exhibitions, both in the UK and internationally.

Requirements

  • Experience of managing all registrarial aspects of temporary exhibitions. 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan effectively across a wide range of activity to meet key deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Customs regulations governing the import/export of works of art. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, to prioritise workload, and maintain good communication across all teams.
