Full time, Permanent, Part time
(6 Full-time roles: 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day, 5 days per week. Hours will be worked on variable days Monday to Sunday based on a rota, including one weekend day per week. 1 Part-time role: 21 hours per week, 7 hours per day, 3 days per week. Hours will be worked on two days Monday to Friday and one weekend day per week, based on a rota.)

Be part of one of London's most exciting cultural projects as we prepare to open the new London Museum at Smithfield. 

Our retail spaces will play an important role in helping visitors connect with London's stories through a unique range of products inspired by the museum's collections, exhibitions and the city itself. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team helping to create memorable visitor experiences from day one.

We are recruiting 6 full-time Retail Assistants and 1 part-time Retail Assistant to provide excellent customer service, help maintain attractive and well-stocked displays, process sales transactions and support the day-to-day operation of our retail spaces.

About the role

  • Welcome customers to the museum’s shop in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Create positive and memorable shopping experiences for all visitors.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by listening, advising and responding to customer needs.
  • Promote and sell museum products, publications, gifts and exhibition-related merchandise.
  • Process transactions accurately using tills and payment systems.
  • Support the achievement of retail sales and income targets through proactive customer engagement.
  • Replenish stock and maintain high standards of product presentation and visual merchandising.
  • Ensure retail spaces remain clean, organised, attractive and fully stocked.
  • Receive, check and store deliveries in line with museum procedures.
  • Handle customer queries, complaints and refund requests professionally and efficiently.
