Key information

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced retailer with great people skills, who is confident working in a fast-paced environment. You will be organised, driven and proactive with a hands-on approach to a varied and busy workload to manage our established shop in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. 

As Retail Manager, you’ll be responsible for hitting the sales targets set so you’ll also need to have the passion and leadership skills to motivate a team of staff and volunteers. 

Great customer service is essential to maximise income as is sourcing and merchandising stock. You will have the ability to manage a team of volunteers and staff, handle cash and have an understanding of a retail environment.

About the role

  • To be able to evidence Break’s values at all times, which underpin Break’s mission of ‘Changing Young Lives’ by: Listening to and respecting all individuals, working in an inclusive way, doing the right thing, making a difference, being optimistic, inspiring and creating hope
  • Day-to-day running of the shop
  • Recruiting and motivating voluntary staff and organising work rota
  • Ensuring all merchandise offered for sale is sorted, clean, pressed and presented to a high standard and for sale at the appropriate price
  • Working positively to achieve sales income targets and maximize potential
  • Adhere to Break’s IT policy and procedures
  • Ensuring till and related paperwork is executed to 100% accuracy

Requirements

  • Good standard of Education including literacy and numeracy
  • Retail experience, some preferably with clothing
  • Management of either paid or voluntary staff
  • Record keeping, both IT and general administration
  • Experience of cash register operation
  • Demonstrate understanding of and consistently work to the values of Break
  • Work independently
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude to change
  • Please be aware this role contains a considerable amount of physical activity, including some heavy lifting.
