Key information

The role of Gloucestershire’s Reusable Nappy Advisor is to further the work of the company in promoting waste reduction and reuse. Resource Futures has an 18-year history of delivering this work for Gloucestershire County Council’s sustainability team.

The job involves raising awareness and promoting the use of reusable nappies amongst parents and health professionals, resulting in wider use of these across Gloucestershire.

The Advisor will attend groups across the county (which is divided into six districts) promoting the environmental benefits and cost savings resulting from using washable nappies.

Regular travel around its six districts, and some home working. Ideally living within or close to the border of Gloucestershire

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel across Gloucestershire. 

Fixed term until 31st March 2028, with a possibility of extension for a further one or two years.

About the role

  • Delivering regular community engagement sessions across Gloucestershire.
  • Building relationships with midwives, health professionals, libraries and registry offices.
  • Providing practical advice and troubleshooting support to families new to reusable nappies.
  • Promoting retailer discount codes to help families take the first step.
  • Managing the reusable nappy library, including stock, loans and distribution.
  • Developing the project’s preloved nappy offer, including sales and giveaways, and finding new ways to grow this strand of the work. 
  • Leading the project’s social media presence, including creating short video content to engage and grow our audience.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of washable nappy types.
  • Commitment to waste reduction, reuse and recycling.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage a range of audiences.
  • Experience using social media to engage audiences or deliver campaigns.
  • Ability to plan own workload and work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work confidently without daily supervision.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office tools (for example. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel across Gloucestershire.
