Science Communicators are the heart of everything we do at Xplore! It’s a role where no two days are ever the same.
You could be with families within our centre on a Saturday, going out to a secondary school with our planetarium on a Wednesday and then developing a brand-new workshop covering biodiversity on a Friday. As a science communicator you will be inspiring and will foster a love of science in all.
Wrexham University is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates and will ensure applicants will not be discriminated against due to their protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. The University will make all efforts to meet your access requirements. Please contact our Human Resources Team as soon as possible to discuss any adjustments or assistance you may need to complete your application form, or to answer any queries you may have.
We welcome applications in Welsh and English. Any applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.
As a Science Communicator you will have a keen interest in science and be passionate about communicating with people about anything and everything. You love engaging, talking and presenting to a wide range of audiences. We believe that confidence and subject knowledge can be built and learnt over time but showing initiative and wanting to give something a go will be second nature to you. You are an excellent team player while also having the ability to be a self-directed worker. Whilst having a background in science is useful, it certainly isn’t a deal-breaker and a drive to learn is just as important. The ability to speak Welsh or another locally spoken language is desirable for this role. Representation is incredibly important for sparking a passion for science, with that in mind Xplore! celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
