Key information

At the heart of London, our museum is a meeting place for stories - past, present, and future. We are here to enrich understanding and appreciation of the city and all its people, offering a home where the extraordinary and the everyday collide.

In the Senior Events Manager role you’ll be part of a team that ensures every visitor feels welcome, every event runs seamlessly, and every corner of the museum hums with life. Here, Grit and Glitter guide everything we do: the depth, texture, and authenticity of the city’s stories, alongside moments of surprise, delight, and magic.

As events operate across a seven-day schedule, flexibility is essential and working hours will regularly include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts in support of event delivery and operational requirements.

Location: London Museum Smithfield; London Museum Docklands; London Museum Spaces (London Wall)

About the role

  • Lead the planning and delivery of a wide portfolio of events, including commercial hires, stakeholder events, and public programmes, from concept to delivery and beyond.
  • Ensure each event delivers an exceptional guest experience, fully aligned with the museum’s brand, values, and standards.
  • Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth delivery within a live museum environment.
  • Maintain operational standards, processes, and procedures for event delivery.
  • Contribute to and uphold a robust operating framework, ensuring all procedures - from inquiry to post-event review - are clear, fit for purpose, and monitored.
  • Accountable for leading on the safety and security during event planning stages, adding value to the standard procedural risk assessment requirements in regards to each event, as each will be unique and bespoke.
  • Line manage, motivate, coach and support your Event Managers; providing clear leadership, development, and performance management, in line with the museum’s Line Manager Standards and Behaviours.
