Key information

This is a key role within a well established and supportive team that sits at the centre of the planning process and works closely with planners, developers and engineers to manage the transport impacts of development.

About the role

The role focuses on providing professional highway and transportation advice on a wide range of planning applications, from smaller developments through to more complex schemes. You will assess transport implications, carry out site visits, engage with applicants and agents, and prepare clear, proportionate and defensible responses to the Local Planning Authority.

You will work closely with colleagues across highways and planning, as well as external consultants, developers and elected members. With support from senior colleagues, you will take responsibility for your own caseload and contribute positively to the wider work of the team.

Requirements

  • Educated to a degree level in a transport or planning related subject or equivalent or able to demonstrate competence through significant experience.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development within the Planning field.
  • Eligibility or membership of an appropriate professional body.
  • Significant experience of working in a highway and or planning environment and able to demonstrate recent experience specifically relating to the assessment of planning applications.
  • Good experience of dealing with queries and preparing correspondence and reports.
  • Experience of presenting at public meetings.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence is required for this post.
